The Institute of Physical Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences (IPC) has settled the competition “From postdoc to PI: the future leaders of ERA” (PD2PI). As a result, we selected 14 postdoctoral fellows from the UK, Philippines, Lithuania, India, Pakistan, Czech Republic, Spain and Poland. They will carry out (with the collaboration of excellent researchers from IPC) the cutting-edge research aimed at, e.g., fighting antimicrobial resistance, treatment of inherited diseases of an eye, elaboration of novel methods of energy production, conversion and storage or enhancement of catalytic technologies. The participation of renowned scientists from universities and research institutes, including the University of Vienna (Austria), Queen Mary University of London (UK), Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (Switzerland), the University of Tokyo (Japan), will safeguard high innovative potential of the research.

The candidates went through very demanding selection proceedings – which required winning acceptance of their to-be mentors, acquiring partners for their research from abroad, preparing a proposal and finally giving a seminar in front of independent panellists. The competition was fierce.

We do congratulate the winners, and we are waiting eagerly to see you at our Institute.

The PD2PI project is co-financed by the European Commission (H2020, Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions, Fellowships Programme) and the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
