Machine Learning Summer School for applications in Science (MLSS^S)
Steven Linfield, together with other members of the Department for Electrode Processes, IChF, attended the Machine Learning Summer School for applications in Science (MLSS^S), hosted at the Jagiellonian University, Kraków.
During MLSS^S, participants were given several interesting talks focusing on the use of machine learning for data analysis and prediction of chemical properties. Highlights included a fascinating talk on how CERN uses predictive algorithms to perform preliminary analysis on data at high speeds, a discussion on how to represent complex chemical compounds in a format suitable for programming, and an intriguing presentation on how matrix operations can be easily formatted into tensors allowing for advanced solving.
