Tour visit to four Japanese universities
In May 2023, Frantisek Muzika visited four Japanese universities: Chiba University, Meiji University, Kobe University, Hiroshima Univeristy. The trip was made possible through the PAN-JSPS exchange program, which focuses on the study of complexity and order in systems of deformable self-propelled objects. During his visit, Frantisek took engaging laboratory tours, delivered lectures, and attended interesting presentation sessions.
At Chiba University, under the guidance of Prof. Kitahata, Frantisek delivered 80-minute lecture encompassing extensive research on BZ droplets' behavior in electric and magnetic fields. The lecture also included a question and answer session.
On the following day, Frantisek had the opportunity to visit Prof. Suematsu's laboratory, where Dr. Kuze is currently conducting his postdoctoral research. During the visit, Dr. Kuze demonstrated an experiment involving BZ droplets in the oil phase. Specifically, he examined whether the direction of droplet movement could be influenced by the addition of a sulfuric acid droplet. The second experiment, shown by Prof. Suematsu, was about spontaneous flow pattern formation of unicellular organism performing photosynthesis in reaction to excessive light.
Next, Frantisek visited the Kobe University, where under supervision of Prof. Koyano, he conducted the experiments with camphor.
The day after, Frantisek visited Hiroshima University, specifically the group lead by Prof. Nakata, where he gave a lecture and was given the opportunity to show his own experimental setup and the experiments.
